Actually, yes, it has a huge benefit to society.

A majority of poker "professionals" are degenerate criminals or some other
lowlife piece of ****. So every minute they are at the poker table is a
minute they are not robbing someone for their next meth fix or whatnot.
And people not getting robbed, my friend, is a benefit to society.
