Where to start? First of all, I want to thank Russ for putting up with a
couple of unscheduled smoke breaks and one misclick. I thought I played
tight preflop until I spent the afternoon with Russ. Holy ****.
What I really enjoyed was getting him talking about the non-poker stuff he
has discussed here. Oh man. What great stories.
Regarding the stalling, he didn't do it every hand. There were lots of
hands he told me to fold quickly. He tries to time it so he has the
button when the blinds change. I never thought about that, but it seems
like it makes a lot of sense.
I was also surprised at some of his bets. We flopped the nuts in early
position. I would have put out some kind of teaser bet to sweeten up the
pot for the turn. Russ told me to pot it. Surprisingly, we got action.
We got action on the pot turn bet also.
Russ walked into a bad situation in the Daily 15 (30 this week) Grand. We
were below par with blinds going up every 10 minutes. He got me above par
and seemingly marching to the money when we ran into a runner runner
flush. I told him that's what happens when I play. LOL.
Anyway, I want to thank Russ for taking the time to try to teach an old
dog new tricks. I'm not sure if I'm sold yet or not. His style takes all
the hard decisions out of the equation. You either push or fold for the
most part.
