Serious question.
I play mostly live, and mostly because my edge is reading people. And
I've had pretty good results for quite a few years.
Well, I took a break from playing for a few weeks, then went and
played the other day, and for some reason I had no damn idea what was
going on or what the other people in the hand held. I mean, I'm
looking at them, and I literally couldn't tell if they were on a
gutshot straight draw or had flopped quads. And forget thinking about
what they thought I held, or beyond that. Hopeless.
Let me tell you, it was frickin' scary. Without sounding too proud of
myself the rest of the time, is THIS how other people play poker all
the time??? How do they do it? It was like trying to drive with your
eyes closed. Disconcerting is not the word.
It was so bad it was almost funny. Hell, at one point I limped with
AK on the button after 4 limpers because limping at that point was
automatic - because I knew that once the flop hit I'd be clueless as
to where I stood. Pathetic.
Has this happened to you? I haven't played again yet - almost looking
forward to it to see what happens.
(Sheesh. If I lose my OTHER skill, I may have to kill myself.)
