Today I received the clearest sign yet that Republicans are facing
political Armageddon. The Republican National Committee sent me a
survey/questionnaire asking for my =93valued insights=94 on the =93vital
issues=94 facing the American people in the upcoming election. (They
conveniently spelled out all these issues for me. All I had to do was
check a nice little =93Yes/No=94 checkbox next to each question.) Oh, and
just as an afterthought, they also included a nice SASE that I could
return my survey form in =96 along with a suggested =93donation=94 of
$100,
$150, $200, $250, $500, or $1,000.00 =96 payable to the RNC.
One of the first questions on the survey was something about whether I
wanted to help Republicans fight runaway out-of-control Government
spending by liberals in the Congress - like Nancy Pelosi and Harry
Reid? I thought about that question for just a second and wondered,
=93Hmmm, do these guys mean the kind of out-of-control, earmark laden,
exorbitant, wasteful, ****k barrel spending that President Bush hasn=92t
lifted a finger to veto in the last seven years?=94
I looked for a question along the lines of whether I was in favor of
ending taxpayer subsidized cor****ate welfare to Wall Street investment
banks like Bear-Stearns, Merrill Lynch, Citi Group, and all the other
cor****ate thieves that got involved in the subprime meltdown. Good
luck on that one =85
I put the =93questionnaire=94 where it belonged: In the garbage can.
The Republicans trying to get money out of me =85 that=92s a laugh. This
is the surest sign yet of Republican desperation.
