The scenario: 2500 player tournament. I've had good
cards early: played 7 hands of 35 so far, and won six,
showing premium pairs three times which I bet strongly.
My opponent has not been involved in many pots, and
the ones that went to showdown, he had the best hand
which he had been betting fairly weakly (checking a lot
and making bets which I would consider too small), which
I interpreted as him wanting to get money in , but not
wanting to lose too much if his hand wasn't actually best.
I haven't seen him chase yet.

When he called the turn bet, I thought he had AK
clubs, or AQ/KQ/JQ (less likely), possibly 22 or QQ,
or maybe other clubs and calling based on implied odds.
Based on his play on past hands, I didn't see him
chasing with a missed pair, or calling with stuff like
Q7 preflop. I can't see Qx making that river bet given
his lack of aggressive play thus far.
22 fits the betting, but so does QQ and clubs.
My gut said that he had clubs; and given that I only
had 2-1 pot odds, and it would be half my stack to call,
I chose to preserve my stack.
Postscript - I was so busy thinking about this hand
afterwards that I made a thoughtless play five minutes
later and busted out. Lesson learned!
